Professional poker players, Phil Laak and Ali Eslami, recently defeated an artificial intelligence program named Polaris in a man v. machine battle. The margin of victory was slim however, with the ‘humans’ winning two of the four sessions, and tying one.
While the number of hands played are not sufficient to be considered statistically relevant, the results indicate a growing threat amongst the AI community. Personally, I think playing online could get a little tougher once they figure out these programs, but that is just the conspiracy theorist in me.
